Great Decisions
We are citizens of an increasingly interconnected world. It’s a continual challenge to try to separate facts from opinion regarding complex issues. Become more informed. Join others interested in learning about foreign policy from a well-documented perspective.
Great Decisions, the discussion group sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association and offered by the League of Women Voters of Downers Grove-Woodridge-Lisle and the Woodridge Public Library, will meet in the Library’s Meeting Room from 7:00 - 8:50 p.m. on eight consecutive Thursday evenings: February 4, 11, 18, and 25, and March 4, 11, 18 and 25. Great Decisions is the largest non-partisan foreign policy educational program in the U.S. Founded in 1918, the Foreign Policy Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring the American public to learn more about the world. Each year the Great Decisions editorial board selects 8 topics that seem to represent the most pressing global issues and regions. Topics for 2010: Special Envoys, Kenya and R2P, Global Crime, U.S.- China Security Relations, Global Financial Crisis, Russia and Its Neighbors, The Persian Gulf, and Peace Building and Conflict Resolution.
Register at the Adult/Young Adult Department Desk. Books will be available in late January at a cost of $20 per participant. No cash will be handled. Checks may be made out to LWV of DG-W-L. A copy of the book will also be held on reserve for use in the Library. |
